Chances are this isn't your first rpg, (but if it is, then welcome aboard!); You probably have a good grasp on the basic rules that they have. However, if you're still not familiar with them, here is a list that are basic guidelines for a happy rpg experience. =)
If need be, more rules may be added with time. Let's hope we don't have to do that.
ooc/general rules
¶ Please go to this thread right now and read it, because I know you're going to have questions about it. If you didn't, because you're super clever, then fine. Carry on.
¶ Absolutely NO bullying of ANY kind. This includes racism, religion bashing, sexuality, etc. It's stupid and completely unacceptable. If you are found to be bullying another person, you will be BANNED, no questions asked.
¶ We're all mature human beings here, which means that swearing is acceptable both in- and out-of-character. This doesn't mean that you can curse or swear every five seconds. Be reasonable, yes? You will receive a PM from an admin if you swear excessively.
¶ As with all boards, ACTIVITY IS A MUST. We can't run a successful rpg if people don't come online. That being said, you're not expected to be online for ten hours every day. You are obligated, however, to log in, and post in a thread (ic or ooc- but preferably ic) at least once a week. The only exception to this rule is if you have posted in the board of absences.
¶ Speaking of activity, if you're going to just sign up and never log in ever again, you can just click that little 'X' up in the right-hand corner of your browser. If you decide to join and reserve a canon, YOU HAVE THREE DAYS TO POST AN APPLICATION (that's a LOT of time) or your account name will be reset (to your username you signed up with) and the character will be available again. Deal?
¶ We all love spam. It's part of life. However, please don't feel the need to spam every board, hmm? In fact, how about no spam at all?! KTHX.
ic rules
¶ There is no post minimum, but please be reasonable. Don't write novels, and don't write one sentence, deal? If the person posting with you seems to be putting a great deal of thought into their posts, you might try doing the same.
¶ In order to cut down on excess dead threads, we ask that you only create one 'open' thread at a time per character. It's fine to reply to somebody else's open thread, and it's fine to start a thread which you have already planned with somebody. While on that subject, please don't start a thread and tag somebody unless you have pm'd them and they have agreed to participate in a thread with you.
¶ After you've posted your application, please head on over to the claims area and CLAIM YOUR FACE. How embarrassing would it be for all of us to be walking around with big black holes where our faces should be? You must have a HUMAN face claim unless your character is not a human... like miss Hedwig. No anime, no drawings... and perhaps not yourself or your friends.
¶ Avatars should be 100x100 pixels. They must display your character's face- we want to know what they look like, after all. Your signature cannot exceed 500x200 pixels (500 wide, 200 high), though you may make it smaller if you wish. It does not have to display your character, but something that has to do with your character would be nice.
**Signatures are not necessary, but avatars are a MUST. Please try to either obtain or make one; if you're rubbish with graphics (like me), you can visit the appropriate board and request one.
¶ While it isn't specified on the application, your character may be of any sexuality (homosexual, bisexual, straight) without fear of discrimination. See that rule above? That one that says no bullying? Yeah, that applies in-character, too.
¶ Another thing that isn't required in the application is your character's personality. Sometimes it's hard to determine exactly what their personality is going to be before you start playing with them, so you have the freedom to display their personality through your posts. That in mind, please make an effort to actually GIVE them a personality- no Bella Swans, please and thanks.
¶ Sticking with the above theme, no Mary Sues or Gary Stus (or whatever the heck you want to call them). No perfect characters. Are you perfect? As much as I know we all love to think we're Gods or Goddesses, we're not. =(
¶ Canons, you're also under obligation to not tamper with what's already fine and dandy. Don't change your character's personality from what was written in the books, shows, or films. Some canons are an exception, such as, say, Susan Bones from Harry Potter, or that one guy that made an appearance in episode ten of Doctor Who- people we don't tend to hear about for long periods of time.
¶ NO Godmodding. As stated above (go up two paragraphs), you are NOT God, and you therefore do not rank supreme over others and, by extension, cannot control their character's actions. Give the other character a chance to react to what your character has just said or done- don't react for them. Then you're writing a story, and there are other forums for that. One exception for this is if you've got a random no-name character, say the waitress at the café, or 'hey look, that Death Eater stole my lunch money!'.
¶ You may NOT kill another character (unless it is one of those aforementioned no-namers, and even then, you're not in Texas Chainsaw Massacre) without the consent of the person playing that character, and an admin.
¶ One last thing, because it never ceases to bother me. Can we cut out all of that teen angst/drama? I think the ultimate end of every rpg that ever was is because of drama. It starts in-character, which is not necessary to begin with, and seems to escalate to out-of-character.
Let's not do anything rash before consulting an admin, okay? Can we leave it at that?

If you've read this far down... there's actually no rules section on the app, but then you'll know not to try and put anything there! =P
As stated before, rules can be added to the list if we find a need for them. Please don't make us, though... it's a bit annoying. =)
If you have any questions whatsoever about the above rules (or anything, actually) please do not hesitate to pm an admin. We don't tend to bite.
